Margaret McDonough

Margaret McDonough, 86, passed away at her home Monday, January 11, 2016.
Margaret was born January 10, 1930, the youngest of 10 children to Charles and Loretta (Lenze) Meister. She graduated from East High School in June of 1948. Margaret retired from Iowa Lutheran Hospital, where she was a housekeeper for 17 years. She loved to crochet, especially afghans. Margaret also enjoyed going to the Southside Senior Center.
Margaret is survived by her children, Carolyn (Keith) Mehl, Marilyn (Byron) Barrett and Michael McDonough; granddaughters, Shawnna Freeze, Wendy (Donald) Kennedy, Shannon Johnson and Jennifer Barrett; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Derek, Maggie, Eleanor, Charlotte, Destiny, Cael, Dakota, Natalia and Jaliyah; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, six sisters, husband, Joseph McDonough, Jr.; and great-grandson, Damian.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by burial at Elm Grove Cemetery.

She was so sweet, we love her and her family. We will miss going to visit her, and hearing her stories.

I'm so sorry to hear that mom passed away. Never thought about her leaving this world. She was a very special person to me. I'll ways remember ironing,doing her hair. I loved her very much. There is so much I could say but I'll be thinking of her and the whole family. Prayers to you all. Love Jeannine
