Shane Wheeldon
January 05, 2016
Shane Burton Wheeldon, 41, passed January 5, 2016. He meant so much to everyone in his life. He was a very proud East High alum where he went to state in wrestling and was a great football and baseball player like his dad. He was a passionate ISU and Twins fan. He sucked at golf, but loved it. His favorite place was Las Vegas where he and Amy got married. Shane spent many hours on the baseball fields coaching his boys at Grandview Little League. He was super competitive in everything he did whether bingo with his mom or shooting pool at the Elks Lodge, where he could never beat the old guys. Anyone who knew Shane will have a lifetime of laughs to remember him by.
Shane is survived by his wife, Amy; sons, Cole and Chase Wheeldon; stepson, Zane Zerkle; stepdaughter, Nevi Zerkle; his loving dog, Pepé (Peanut); mom, Linda Dahlin (Lloyd); dad, Tom Wheeldon (Helen); sister, Heather Roering (Craig) and lots of ornery friends and crazy family.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with a graveside service to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Shane.

Linda and Heather, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like Shane grew up to be a good man, father and husband, in addition to a brother, son and of course the Atari Pac-man teacher that I knew him as.
My thoughts go out to his wife and children as well.

My heart goes to out to the Wheeldon family and friends at their loss of Shane. He sure sounds a lot like his dad. I knew Tom in high school through football, baseball, and wrestling. I am sorry that Tom belongs to the same fraternity that I belong to, one where a father lost a child too soon. My daughter was killed at age 16 and I still miss her every day. I know that Tom will feel the same about Shane and all I can do is say how sorry I am for him at his loss and that he can contact me through my email address I have provided.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Shane's mom, Linda and we carpooled together when we worked at The Hartford. She is a good friend. Her kids meant the world to her. I remember Shane when he was young. I'm so sad to hear about this. My prayers are with you all.

It saddens me to learn of the death of Shane. I enjoyed knowing him and doing things for him when he would stop and see me at 130 College Ave. My thoughts are with the family.

I did not know Shane. But after reading such a wonderfully written obituary, I feel like we were friends. So sorry for your loss. I just wanted to commend whoever wrote the obituary. Well done. He was obviously a lot of fun and much loved. Prayers for your family.

Sorry to hear of Shane's passing. Even though I have not seen Shane for many years, he was a friend of mine. We had a lot of laughs--he was good for those--and he was a loyal friend. The world will be a little less cheerful without him in it.
