Bert Johnston, Jr.

Bert Johnston, Jr. passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his home in Adel, Iowa. Bert was the son of Helen and Bert Johnston Sr. He was born in Minnesota on July 1, 1944. The family moved to a farm in Iowa, where his father taught him to be an electrician and how to farm. Growing up, Bert enjoyed working on his car, teaching his sister to drive and raising pigeons. As an adult he enjoyed fishing with his children, grandchildren and various family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting with his friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy Ann (Buckley); his children, Philip Johnston, Patricia Hoffman, Carl Johnston, Laura Laws, Donna German, Heather Johnston, Amy Edwards, David Johnston, Dustin Johnston, Raymond Johnston and Rebecca Johnston; 24 grandchildren;4 great grandchildren; his siblings, Bertella McKeehan, Helen Ferrell, Phronsie Floyd, Joseph Johnston and Lloyd Johnston and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lyn Cook; and his brothers, Carroll Johnston, Lyle Johnston and Wayne Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Panther Creek Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
