Mathew J. "Joe" Carmosino

Mathew Joseph Carmosino, of Des Moines passed away at his home on New Year’s Day, 2016. Joe was born on January 12, 1930, in Fort Des Moines, Iowa to Vito and Maria Carmosino.
Joe married his high school sweet heart Helen Marie Mazzei on May 24, 1953 and together they were blessed with two children, Michael and Camille. Joe served his country proudly as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict receiving both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a Charter Member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he served as song leader and tenor in the choir for over 60 years with Helen Marie as Choir Director and Organist and 15 years at the Basilica of St. John. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree from ISU in Electrical Engineering and worked professionally for Iowa Power.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Helen Marie; sister-in-law Sylvia Carmosino; nieces, Patricia Shumate, Marilyn Hennesy, Lucy Phillips; nephews, Joey, Peter and Paul Carmosino, Anthony, Paul, Charles and Brian Scavo; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two children; his parents; brother, sister and many in-laws.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Family will greet visitors from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the church with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Joe’s memory to be given to a charity of their choice.

So sorry to learn of Joe's death. He was always such a gentleman and so devoted to Christ the King, especially in using his voice to enhance our liturgies.Joe and Helen Marie made up an exemplary couple.He will be missed. I will not be able to attend the services, but will offer a Mass for him and all the family in the days to come. God bless you all.

Dear Helen I was so sad to see that your husband had passed. I use to work at Iowa heart and enjoyed seeing your smiling face and it was always made me happy to see you and your husband come in together and could see the love in both your eyes towards each other. This is a very hard time for you and your in my thoughts and prayers. ?? Take care.
