Frances "Fran" Becker

Frances J. Becker, 78, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.
Frances was born November 29, 1937 in Des Moines to Antonio and Jessie (Gonzales) Cuevas. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955. Frances went to work for the State of Iowa and later American Republic Insurance. She eventually retired in 1997 from the I.R.S. where she worked in bankruptcy claims. Following her retirement, she worked for the Iowa Cubs and later Younkers. Frances attended St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a member of the Eagles and did charity work at the Newton Speedway. Frances enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas. She was an avid Cardinals fan and also enjoyed traveling to St. Louis and Chicago to watch them play. Frances loved her grandchildren and loved to shop for them. She will be remembered as a very generous woman who would give without recognition.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Gene; children, Martin Becker, Kristina (Andy) DeLisi and Patrick Becker; seven grandchildren; siblings, Benita, Joe, Mary, twin Ernestine, Phil, Roberta and Lucy; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Antonia, Danny, Richard and Dolores.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue. Visitation will be held Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Frances will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Fraternal Order of Eagles #109 Women’s Auxiliary.

I knew Fran through the Eagles Auxiliary and so enjoyed her. I didn't even know this was Kristina's mother. I work with Kristina and so enjoy our work relationship. Small world! My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
