David Lee Finch died Friday morning, October 26th at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City following a short illness. David was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 15, 1939. He graduated from North High School, attended classes at Drake University in Des Moines, and served in the National Guard.
David was a photojournalist with the Des Moines Register until 1982. After that, he also worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette (CO), and the Stockton Record (CA) until his retirement in 2006.
David was an avid singer and performed with the Stockton Choral, the Stockton Symphony and various church choirs. He was currently a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA.
David was best known not only for his caring nature, but also his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents Daniel M. and Inez Finch. He is survived by his wife, Delia (Rivera); son, Bryan (Cheryl) Finch of Sioux City; daughter, Lisa (Scott) Warner of Ankeny, IA; granddaughter Heather Warner of Cedar Falls; brother, Daniel Joe (Charlotte) Finch of Rolla, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31st at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Internment will immediately follow at White Oak Cemetery in White Oak (Elkhart), IA.
