Daniel Amsden, Sr.
December 20, 2015
Daniel Kencade “DK” Amsden, Sr., was a born story teller. He has written tales since his childhood, becoming a published author at age 60. He was a unique individual, living life on his own terms, often off the land with only the possessions he could carry and his wit.
He was born February 26, 1949, to Charles and Norma (Plummer) Amsden in Des Moines, Iowa, moving to Minnesota shortly after. His upbringing in northern Minnesota taught him self-reliance and an appreciation for nature.
Dan passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the age of 66.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Sandra “Sandy” Amsden; his sons, DJ Amsden (Abby Gripp) and Jacob Amsden (Kristy); grandchildren, Paige Villalobos (Jay), Trey, Kena, Cason, Brynlee, Shandy, Zach, and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Daphnie; brothers, Lane Joe Amsden and Charles Amsden; sisters, Charmaine Condon, Julie Gunderson, and Laura Graham; and his step-mother, Eileen Amsden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Shane Charles Amsden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 3 until 6 PM at PARC Recreation Center, 5374 NE 12th Avenue in Pleasant Hill..

I'm lost here. A writer with no words to write. Dan was special. I remember he messaged me in 2013 and asked if I would edit one of his books. I did, and the rest is history. He loved his book signings and told me he had started his "real" life, the life of an author, so happy, so excited. Sandy, he spoke of you often. I will miss him, his special sense of humor, his writing style, his stories. Rest in gentle peace Dan, for apparently God thought your mission on Earth was complete. Thankfully Danny Berry will live forever.

I knew Dan only through Facebook, as a fellow 'senior' author, independently writing and publishing his stories. Rest in Peace, Dan; I pray the books you've shared will be treasures for your family. You will be missed by so many.
