Dolores Jean Cooper, 98, of South Beloit peacefully passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center. Born November 14, 1917, in Des Moines, IA to Harry and Theresa (Sauve) Dobson.

Formerly married to Lewis Cooper, she had two sons, Bill and Danny Cooper. At a time when women’s fastpitch softball gained national attention, Dolores was a star pitcher for the Greenwood Electric, Lucas, and Council Bluffs Georgie Porgie teams. She was a member of the initial class of inductees into the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame. At 70, she could still throw some heat!

Dolores enjoyed the sporting events of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, crocheting
afghans for family and loved going for rides in the car. Her favorite meal was hamburger & french-fries from McDonalds.

Survivors include son, Bill (Donna) Cooper of Urbandale; grandchildren, Shannon Scheffel and Chanice (Mike) Michowski all of Rockton, Eric (Tara) Cooper of Clive and Chad Cooper of Smyrna, GA; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Brooke and Abigail Michowski, Alyssa, Madeline and Jeremy Scheffel, Chaz and Colten Raggio. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Lewis; son, Danny Cooper; and sister, Alice.
