Martha Clare

Martha E. (Wren) Clare, 85, passed away from cancer Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Martha was born February 22, 1930 in rural Knoxville, Iowa to Bill and Lucy Wren. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and attended Drake University. Martha worked at Meredith Corporation and later retired from Methodist Hospital after 19 years of service. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Martha is survived by her siblings, Lucille Wren of Des Moines and Richard Wren of Granger; sisters-in-law, Amanda Wren and Patricia Wren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary, James, Leo, Anna and Robert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery near Knoxville, Iowa. The family will greet friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
