Edward L. Rice
December 11, 2015
Edward L. Rice was born March 24, 1938 and went to be with his wife Shelby on December 11, 2015 after a long battle with COPD.
As a lifelong “Southsider”, he graduated from Lincoln High School and began working at various dealerships. In the mid 70’s he went into business for himself selling heavy trucks and equipment. He and Shelby moved to Florida in 1985 and returned to Des Moines after Shelby passed away in 2007. Upon his return, he retired to enjoy life, family and friends.
He leaves behind his son, Shane (Cindi) Rice; grandson, Tyler; daughter, Holly Rice; his sister, Barbara Anthony and his pet squirrel, Woody. He will be greatly missed. Ed was an animal lover.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Avon Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
