John Churchill

John D. Churchill, 55, formerly of Mitchellville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on March 1, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ted and Kathleen Churchill.
John spent many of his years as an employee of the City of Des Moines Parks Department. He supervised golf course operations at both Waveland and Blank Golf Course in Des Moines, Iowa.
John is survived by his mother, Kathleen Churchill of Mitchellville, Iowa; daughter, Megan (Brandon) Williams of Ankeny, Iowa; brothers, Edward Churchill of Des Moines, Iowa, Teddy and Mark Churchill of Mitchellville, Iowa and Bruce Churchill of Phoenix, Arizona; companion of fifteen years, Cynthia Cardiff of Kansas City, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and many life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Churchill and son, Nathan Churchill.
John gave in death as he did in life as he was an organ and tissue donor.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow the service at the Mitchellville Community Center. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of John D. Churchill.
