Evelyn "Freddy" Payne

Evelyn "Freddy" Payne, 94, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her home. A private family memorial service was held previously.
Freddy was born August 17, 1913 to Charles and Ida Johnson in Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to Des Moines in 1944 and lived in Marathon, Florida for 25 years. She worked at Townsend Industries, as the Office Manager and Vice President. Freddy was a member of the Marathon Garden Club, Marathon Power Squadron, and the Des Moines Power Boat Club.
Freddy is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Townsend of Altoona; son, John (Chandra) Payne of Tega Cay, SC; step-son, Frank Payne of Saylorville; numerous grandchildren; great- grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Payne; and step-son, Larry Payne.
Memorial contributions may be given to Iowa Health Hospice, Marathon Garden Club, or Marathon Power Squadron.
