Susan Kae Speck, formerly Lasher, 68, was born March 29, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Everett and Delores (Piper) Speck. She passed away suddenly Monday, November 16, 2015 at her home in Pleasant Hill.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 20 also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Susan worked for Principal for 19 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of Ankeny SDA Church where she was very involved in church activities and served as a Sabbath School teacher.

She is survived by her daughters, Gabrielle (Jason) Egli and Valerie (Garry) Stanfill; eight grandchildren, Dakota, Drew (Shelby), Elijah, Abigail, Jonah, Michael, Naomi, and Isaac; siblings, Steven Speck, Cynthia (Jesse) Waltz, and Vickie (Rick) Switzer; and her best friend, Edna Thomas.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ankeny SDA Church to be used for children’s programs.
