Service Details
Douglas Vincent Metheny, 66, passed away late Tuesday evening at Kavanagh on 56th in Des Moines. He was born July 17, 1941, in Perry, IA and is the son of the late Dr. V.R. and Irene Metheny of Eagle Grove, IA.
Douglas is survived by his son, Mark (Christine) Rasmussen; two granddaughters, Alexandra and Catherine all of MN; brother, Jan (Joanne) Metheny of West Des Moines; sister, Kitty Abrams of New Orleans; aunts, June Cornelius of Des Moines and Mary (Morris) Towne of Jamaica, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, IA. A memorial service will be held in November.

Douglas and I go way back to Kindergarten in Eagle Grove. Last year I had occation to email with him several times after having lost touch with him for many years. It was very nice talking to him again after so much of our lives had unfolded. I'm afraid that when I changed some things on my computer, we again lost contact. Since then, I've often wondered how he was doing. I had no idea that he might be ill.
May I convey my sincerest condolences to his family at this time for your loss. I am greatly sorry to hear of this event.

Doug was a high school classmate of mine and a good friend. I last saw him at one of our class reunions and enjoyed it so much. I remember his Mom and Dad as well with fond memories.
