Joyce Faye Pettis, 75, was born November 2, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ralph and Clora (Collins) Noland. She passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 20th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City, Iowa.
Joyce worked for the State of Iowa for 30 years as a systems analyst. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, and wintering in Arizona. She her hobbies included going to Prairie Meadows, playing BINGO, reading and crocheting.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Noland; children, Steven (Lynda) Pettis, Barbara McNichols, Randy Pettis, Lorelei (Bruce) Hanson, Michelle (Robert) Carey, and Joseph (Linda) Pettis; her extended family, Paul Gullickson, Stormy Gordon, and Michael Gordon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Pettis; parents, Ralph and Clora Noland; brother, David Noland; and sister, Janice Groomes.

Sorry about Joyce. I did not find out until it was to late to go to the funeral. I worked with her when we both worked for the State of Iowa. She was a good gal and made everyone have a good laugh.

I wish I could have been closer to Joyce but when we were around each other I enjoyed visiting with her . Joyce was a very caring person and I know she will be missed .

Joyce is my husbands grandma and my children's great grandma. Her family was her pride and joy in life. I know she is in heaven still sharing her love for all of you with the angels around her. She will deeply be missed and I will treasure the memories.

Joyce and I worked for Revenue for several years on the income tax system. She was smart, fun, a hard worker, and a good friend. Sincere sympathy to the family.
