Vicki Lynn Hess, 61, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015.

She was born June 24, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Wendell and Barbara Burbank. She always had a smile on her face and if she ever met a stranger, they quickly became a friend. She worked as the assistant manager for Des Moines University Matthews Bookstore and was also an usher and the “lounge bouncer” for the Des Moines Buccaneers for many years. Her family was her life and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her signature fruit snacks.

Vicki is survived by her husband, George; son, Derek (Sara) Hess; daughter, Shawn (Matt) With; nine grandchildren, Aaron With, Cameron Hess, Noah With, Ayanna Hess, Ayden Hess, Avayah Hess, Micah With, Isaiah With, and Cambria Hess; her father, Wendell (Vona Ann) Burbank; her siblings, Debbie (Jim) Taylor, Kim (Steve) Dykmann, and Paul Burbank; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Burbank.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 13, at Des Moines Vineyard Church, 2332 Euclid Avenue, Des Moines.
