Carol Edwards

Service Details

Carol Sue Edwards was born November 20, 1950 in Mahaska County, Iowa. She was the sixth of ten children born to Jay A. and Nellie Marie Edwards. She died after a long illness on November 8, 2015.

She grew up and attended school in Ottumwa, Iowa and Winterset, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1969.

She worked for the Iowa State House of Representatives for 19 years. She later worked for Firestone Company until her retirement.

After retirement, Carol began an earnest study of the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. As she learned the Bible's standards, she made many changes in her life. Her desire became to serve Jehovah. She dedicated her life to Jehovah, and was preparing to symbolize that dedication by being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Although her deteriorating health prevented that, she felt comfort knowing she was doing all she could to please and honor her Creator.

Carol was preceded in death by both parents and five siblings: Judith Ann Long, Jay Thomas Edwards, Roger David Edwards, James Anthony Edwards, and Joe Edwards. She was also preceded in death by dear friend Cheryl Floyd.

She is survived by four siblings: Juanita Mills, Jerry Edwards, Sarah Rivers, and Janet Pumphrey. She is also survived by step-daughters Julie Lloyd and Wendy Stearns, as well as grandchildren Andria, Alyssa and Christian. She also leaves behind many friends.

Carol loved fishing and enjoyed watching baseball and other sports. She became an excellent cook, and loved cooking for her family. Her intelligence and sense of humor will be greatly missed, as will her kind and generous spirit. She developed a deep love for her God Jehovah, and had an unwavering hope in the Bible's promise of a resurrection. We look forward to welcoming her back in that resurrection, when the earth is a paradise. She can then enjoy perfect health.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Kingdom Hall, 420 East Watrous Ave. in Des Moines.
