James Severino

James P. Severino passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015. He was born on July 5, 1933 in Des Moines to Jim and Phyllis Severino.

Jim attended St. Anthony grade school and graduated from Lincoln High School. He continued his education at American School. James worked in the City of Des Moines for 10 years before going into construction.

Jim loved to play cribbage and hearts with his friends. He enjoyed collecting cuckoo clocks.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Emma; son, Jimmy (Rita) Severino, Jr.; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Brose and Lauri (Dan) Latterell: brother, John Severino; sister, Fena Lucia; grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Nevin, Carly Schroder, Adam Nevins, Kelly Nevins, Tyler (Sam) Palmer and Austin Palmer; and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Phyllis; brothers, Joe, Charlie and Albert Severino; and his sisters, Maryanne Paterno and Angie Rizzuti.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the Rosary recited at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
