Arthur "Lester" Southwick

Arthur “Lester” Southwick, 73, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines.

Lester was born June 29, 1942 in Melcher Dallas, Iowa to Clarence and Darlene Southwick. He served in the US Army and worked in the construction field. He enjoyed fishing and playing the slots at the casino.

Lester is survived by his children, Karen Redling, Penny (Jay) Brooks, Ray (Alicia) Southwick, Tami Weeks, and Rose (Jake) Schoonover; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Vera Jeffers and Vern Southwick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene B. Southwick; father, Clarence Henry Southwick; brother, Carl Southwick; and grandson, Dustin Grim, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A reception will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at AmVets 2818 5th Avenue in Des Moines.
