Pamela Kay Meeker

Pamela Kay Meeker, 49, was born February 21, 1966 in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Gary and Judy (Kirschbaum) Hulme. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Taylor Hospice House.

Pam was a woman of faith, hope, and love, constantly seeking to brighten the lives of her family, church, and community. Her life truly exemplified one of her favorite quotes, a teaching of St. Francis: “Preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words.” Her gentle heart was a blessing to all she met, teaching by quiet example the true meaning of motherhood, Christianity, service, and friendship.

From a young age, Pam knew her calling was “to be a momma”. She will be remembered as Mother not only by her own three loving children, but by numerous others whose hearts were touched and lives influenced by her love and guidance. After homeschooling her kids for 10 years, she turned her passion for children into a career, focusing on bully prevention and advocacy for kids with special needs. The bully prevention trainings and programs that she developed have reached hundreds of educators, parents, and children across the state.

Words cannot adequately express the remarkable woman that Pam was, capture the countless smiles she brought to those who knew her, or describe the love and laughter that emanated from her constantly. Her absence will be sorely missed, but she will forever be held dear and live on in the hearts of those who love her.

Pam’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 27 years, Brett Meeker; her beloved children, Bradley Meeker, Ashley Meeker and Emily Meeker; her mother, Judy (Jim) Prideg; her siblings, Michael (Liza) Hulme, Lori (Scott) McCleerey and David (Heidi) Hulme; her mother-in-law, Lynda Meeker; six nephews; three nieces; other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Hulme and her father-in-law, Richard Meeker.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Ave. S in Altoona, with a vigil service to begin at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the church. Graveside services will follow at 3:45 p.m. later that day at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be distributed at a later date to numerous charities to honor Pam’s legacy.
