Joyce L. Bright

Joyce L. Bright, 82, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on her mother’s birthday Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Bright Kavanagh House.

Joyce was born September 25, 1933 in Des Moines to Howard and Mildred (Finney) Polson. She was a proud graduate of East High School. Joyce was a homemaker and also worked in a chiropractic office for several years. In her younger years, she enjoyed league bowling with her husband, children and grandchildren. Joyce was a lifetime member of Easton Place United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Sweet Adeline’s. She served as Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls before becoming a member of Eastern Star. Joyce was very outgoing and never knew a stranger.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Corrine (Denny) Comer; sons, Richard L. (Julie) Bright, Jr. and Paul Bright; grandchildren, Raeome, Jeremy, Alycia, Nick, Casey, Dan, Joe, Paul Jr. and Marlana; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sisters, JoAnn (Don) Overton and Judy (Steve) Kier; her beloved dog, Angel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 48 years, Richard L. Bright, Sr.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, November 3, 2015 beginning at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Easton Place United Methodist Church, 2412 Easton Blvd. Joyce will be laid to rest at the Masonic Cemetery.
