Sergey Babayev

Sergey Babayev 93, of West Des Moines passed away October 30, 2015. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery, immediately following the visitation.

Sergey was born in Baku, Azerbailjan (former Soviet Union). He was a fighter pilot and World War II veteran. He immigrated to the United States in 1994 and lived in West Des Moines for 21 years.

Sergey was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marietta. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. Sergey’s memory is kept alive by his daughter, Lubov; his son, Serge (Jean); four grandchildren, Gumaya (Vlad), Bahram (Kamilla), Aleksey (Julia), David; and his three great-grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
