Gerald Cook, 90, was born April 22, 1925, to George and Estella “Stella” Cook. He passed away at Valley View Village in Des Moines on October 25, 2015.
Gerald worked as a Night Watchman at Parker Brother Games for more than 25 years and did janitorial work at PBS until he retired in 1987. He loved spending time with his family, and his younger years he enjoyed fishing.
Gerald is survived by his children, Gene (Carmin) Cook, Joy (Kurt) Burchett, and Steven (Amy) Cook; 6 grandchildren, Gene Jr., Chelsea, Constance, Jaylin, Chase, and Triniti; as well as his sister, Barbara. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; mother-in-law, Velma; and brother-in-law, James Davidson.
Private graveside services will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Village in loving memory of Gerald.

We were sorry to see this news and wish I had known Gerald was at Valley View. We live in Ankeny and could have visited him! We lost track of him after his wife's death.
We pray for peace for the family and have fond memories of our Cook reunions. Gerald looked so much like Uncle Sam God bless you all. I am his cousin Wanda

My sisters and I loved Cookie. He was 28 and we were 18-16 and12. We have looked for him for years. If his children are interested we would love to connect with them. He drove us around in his convertible along with lots of other teens and we have a record of him singing with us my phone is 563 260 8260. So sorry for your loss. It's our loss also. He was a great friend
