Gladys Dennis, 88, went to be with Her Lord on Friday, October 23, 2015.

Gladys was born December 12, 1926 to Elmer and Mary (Henderson) Travis in Des Moines, Iowa. On October 10, 1942 Gladys married her lifelong husband, William (Bill) Dennis. They raised three daughters: Karen, Patricia, and Sharon; and a son, Paul. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt who was loved by all.

The most important things in her life were her faith and devotion to God, whom she served faithfully for many years. She was a caring, loving lady who helped many family members and friends by taking them into her home. She prayed for everyone she came into contact with.

In recent years, Gladys was a member of Heritage Assembly of God where she was so happy to worship with her church family. She also had Christian friends at Cornerstone Church of God, with whom she continued to visit and pray.

Gladys is survived by her daughters: Karen Stanford, Patricia Michaels, and Sharon Dennis; her son, Paul (Sue) Dennis; her sister, Beverly Ackelson; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Elmer and Mary; her husband, Bill; her granddaughter Amy; 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Assembly of God, 5051 NE 5th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313 on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with funeral services held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rising Sun Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the church following the interment.
