Larry Eugene Davis Sr., 71, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015.
Larry was born January 13, 1944 in Huntsville, Missouri. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Larry worked for Eagle Iron Works for 25 years. In his free time, he loved having family over and hosting family get-togethers. Larry enjoyed listening to music, especially the blues, and liked watching scary movies.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice; his son, Larry Davis Jr. (Kellie Schroeder); his grandson, Larry William Davis III (Abbigale Herman); his siblings, Hilda Heard (Charles), Kenneth Davis (Mary), Brenda Davis, Richard (Diane) Thorpe, Perry (Robbie) Thorpe, Jerry (Barbara) Thorpe, Theresa (Ronald) Dane, L’Taneya Thorpe, Kenneth Thorpe, Alicia Thorpe, Charlene Robinson, and Avonna Arhtur; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary G. Tolson Davis and Henry Vernon Davis; his biological father, Richard Thorpe; and his siblings, Kathryn Davis, Phillip Davis, Robert Thorpe, and Rory Thorpe.
Please join the family for a visitation to be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

The news came I froze, my heart ached, I cried then I thought back and reached into my mind and soul and thought heaven has one of the sweetest, kind souls in the world now the tears dried up now when the sun shines I will always remember my brother/friend smile and know you are smiling down on us. My loving uncle I will always remember your welcoming heart. As children we couldn't wait to go to Uncle Larry's house to see what new movies he had or what games he had . It was always fun at Uncle Larry's.It hurts my heart that your. not here in body but I know your suffering anymore and our memories of u will last a lifetime.
