I met Art when I was a kid living across from Jefferson School on Watrous and a couple of years later had a summer job at the school working for Art. He taught me to play pitch which we played every morning. He really became a good friend with me as well as many of the other kids in the neighborhood. I seen him a couple of times over the years, the last time about 15 years ago when I was on an early morning walk and ran into him doing the same. We talked for a while about life back then and he asked about the others in the old neighborhood and still knew all their names. The thing I learned from him was even though he was an adult, he treated me and others, no matter what their age with kindness and respect. R.I.P. Art. You were a good man.
