Donald Hector

Donald C. Hector, 91, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at his home in Ankeny. He was born August 28, 1916 to Bertha and Charles Hector in Des Moines. Don graduated from East High School in Des Moines.
Don served his country, in the US Army Air Corps, where he flew over forty missions in the South Pacific as a B24 Liberator Pilot, until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He was the owner and operator of Don Hector American Mobile Homes in Des Moines for many years. He enjoyed playing cribbage and was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Gary Hector; two grandchildren, Michael Hector and Mark Hector; three step grandchildren, Brian Brown, Eric Brown and Ryan Brown; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Massman, and a son-in-law, Dave Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; sisters, Patricia and Ruth; a step daughter, Phyllis; and his parents, Bertha and Charles Hector.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 25, 2007 at All Saints Catholic Church in Des Moines. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church in loving memory of Donald.
