Doris Johnson

Doris L. Johnson, 92, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial of cremated remains will occur at Laurel Hill Cemetery following the service.
Doris was born March 31, 1915 to Charles and Ethel Scott in Des Moines. She was an East High School graduate, was a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church, and a lifetime member of the Old Time Fiddler’s Association. Doris was the Social Director for Senior Citizens for the Des Moines Parks and Recreation and continued those endeavors after retirement by going to card and dance clubs each week. She lived at Stonecrest Apartments for 18 years before moving to Union Park Health Services. Doris was the most active and social senior most had ever met.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Jan (Howard) Catron; son, Richard (Karna) Leonard; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Johnson; and sons, Charles and Robert Leonard.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
