Brett had such an infectious personality and smile. He was always fun to be around. I really enjoyed coaching with him at Court Time Basketball camps. Every morning he'd say "Coach Jess!! What's up?!" Then we would discuss what his mother had made him for lunch for the day. It was Usually about 4 PB&Js. And carrots. Seems like he always had carrots. He was truly one of a kind and the favorite coach of all the campers and personally my favorite co worker. It was impossible to be in a bad mood when Brett was around. I am fortunate for the opportunity to know him. Rest Easy Pau.

Our deepest sympathies to you, Le Ann, & Taylor; Ron and the whole extended family. What an amazing young man. Gone far too soon. No words can express our sadness for you. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.
Only comfort is knowing he's welcomed to Heaven by his dad. Both, sadly missed by all.

As a co-worker during Court time basketball camps it was a pleasure to be working along side Brett. He not only kept the kids happy but he also kept the staff in a good mood through the long summer days. You'll be missed Brett, To the Heitkamp Family your in my prayers.

I was a co-worker of Brett's aunt Colleen in Washington, and heard so much about him from her -- all of the fun they had when he and Taylor visited DC and when she and Janet visited the family in Iowa. And it was clear that Colleen was so proud of Brett and his accomplishments.
I met Brett and Taylor during one of their DC visits when they came downtown to meet Colleen after work, and even during just that brief meeting, both brothers seemed like such nice young guys. The world needs people like that, and Brett should have been with us so much longer.
My condolences to Brett's family for their great loss.
