He held SE Polk School District close to heart through his participation as a committee member and various volunteer positions. He enjoyed being involved in local and national political campaigns and was active in Altoona city government, serving on many boards including the Altoona Board of Adjustments. He was passionate of his involvement in his church to include 43 years with his church choir. Doug was a visionary and responsible, with the help of many volunteers, for the Korean Vietnam Memorial and the Veterans Memorial in Altoona. Doug’s passion and love for his wife, his children, and family was led by his examples in his daily life.
