George Patterson, 90, was born February 3, 1925 in Des Moines, the son of Harold and Louisa (Ellis) Patterson, Sr. He passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Altoona Nursing and Rehab.

George is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Patterson; children, Sherry (Garold) Henry, Chuck (Sandra) Patterson, Chris (Jeff) Brown, Joe (Carol) Patterson and John Patterson; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Cherry Mott; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Mary Patterson; brother, Dick Patterson; brother-in-law, Duane Mott and sister-in-law, Charlotte Patterson.

George was raised in the Carlisle area and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1943. He married Beverly Meacham on May 28, 1950 at Rising Sun Church of Christ. He and Beverly were married 65 years and had five children.

George was a hard worker, spending most of his working years as a farmer and truck driver. He retired from MidAmerican Freight Co. In his retirement years he enjoyed taking care of his acreage and spending time with his grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Rising Sun Cemetery.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Altoona Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care they provided to George. Memorial contributions may be directed to Rising Sun Church of Christ in loving memory of George.
