Sandra L. Slaton

Sandra L. Slaton, 54, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Kavanagh House on 56th from breast cancer. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Sandy was born September 28, 1953 to Dean and Darlene Graham in Des Moines. She graduated from Urbandale High School in 1971. She married John H. Slaton on September 18, 1976 and they had two children, Melissa and Tom. The family lived in New York State, Pennsylvania, and Indiana before returning to Iowa. Sandy worked as a bookkeeper at Les Mes Environmental Support in Truro, Iowa and at Cretex Midwest in West Des Moines. She was a 15 year member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Melissa Slaton of Kansas; brother, Mike (Nancy) Graham of Des Moines; sister, Anita Graham of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Kathryn Slaton of Missouri; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and a host of beloved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Slaton; son, Tom Slaton; parents, Dean and Darlene Graham; and father-in-law, Porter Slaton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
