Christina Joy Kirkpatrick, 90, passed away, Monday, August 10, 2015 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. She was born February 9, 1925 in Wagner, Oklahoma to Clayton and Susie (Reeves) Kirkpatrick. After much traveling and various jobs along the way, her parents settled near Cabool, Missouri where she met and married William Edward McConnell on December 21, 1941.
Christina and William built their home on a farm ten miles from Cabool where they had four children: Bonnie Jean, Charles Edward, Donald Lee, and Brenda Faye. Christina was a devout Christian, and the family belonged to the Assembly of God Church in Cabool.
Christina loved flowers and always had a vegetable garden no matter where she lived. While on the farm she raised laying hens, guinea hens, and rabbits along with all the song birds and learning their different calls. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, sewing, drawing, singing, and reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Walker (Des Moines) and Bonnie Dolan (Prescott Valley, Arizona), 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Donald and Charles McConnell; sisters, Juanita Cox and Ruth Blevins; brothers, Leonard, George, and James Price and Wilburn, Charles, Herbert (of Missouri), and LeRoy Kirkpatrick; 2 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Private family burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in DeSoto, Iowa.

Aunt Christina,
We love you . You always told us about flowers & animals. We are at peace knowing you are with all of your family together again. It hard knowing you are the last of the brothers & sisters to get to heaven . What a reunion that is up there. Sending my prayers & love to Brenda , Bonnie & all her grandkids & great grandkids too.
