John “Jack” Strait, Jr., 90, was born June 20, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to John Sr. and Florence Strait. He passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his home in Ankeny.

Jack was an East High graduate, class of 1943. He served as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Jack loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and antiquing. He worked for I.S.O. for over 36 years and was a grateful member of AA for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; son, Greg (wife, JoAnn); grandson, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Carigan and Ethan; brother, Bill; niece, Stefanie (husband, Scott); and nephew, Scott. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a visitation held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Jack.
