Loren Marker

Loren Marker, 75, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. He was born on July 12, 1940, in Chariton, Iowa to Riley and Lorena (Housman) Marker.
Loren most recently worked for Smouse Opportunity School, from where he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, and the outdoors in general. Loren was a member of Easton Place UMC.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Bryan (Christopher Erickson) Marker, Michele Marker (Mark Skinner), Melinda (Graham) Charron, and Jessica (DJ) Bishop; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carolyn Clark and John Bill Marker. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myrna Smith.
Per his wishes, his body was donated to science. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Four Mile Community Center, 3711 Easton Blvd., Des Moines. Casual attire is preferred.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Special Olympics West Central Iowa, 551 SE Dovetail Rd., Grimes, IA 50111.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of a coworker that always had the yummiest looking food! Loren was great with our special kids at Smouse and my sympathies to your family!

Bryan, it was a great experience for us at Smouse to have a father & son on our team. Always fun to watch you two together! As you go through today and the days to come know that there are friends praying for you.
