Bette Stevenson

Bette L. Stevenson, 82, of Des Moines, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Bickford Cottage in Ames, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be open after 2pm Tuesday with the family present on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7pm. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home
Bette was born on January 24, 1925 in Oxford, NE to Russell and Pearl Roush Veon and raised in Monroe, Iowa along with her brother Harold. She married Robert M. Stevenson of Newton on July 29, 1945 and they raised their three children in Des Moines, Gene (Lyn) Stevenson of Aurora, CO, Larry (Sandy) Stevenson of Ankeny, IA and Terri (Bill) Dunshee of Ames, IA. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Jim (Liz), John, Jenni, Jessi, Jake, Kelsey, Kate and new great granddaughter, Josie.
Bette was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Bette enjoyed traveling the world and was a avid volunteer for the Veteran’s Hospital and Lutheran Hospitals after her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and friend Bud North. She will be laid to rest at the Monroe Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or First United Methodist Church of downtown Des Moines.
