Robert W. Webb
July 19, 2015
Robert Webb passed away with his loving wife by his side on July 19, 2015, at Parkridge Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, at the age of 92. He was born November 30, 1922, in Des Moines, to William and Anna Webb.
Bob was united in marriage to Amelia Dearden on December 19, 1943. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Radioman and Gunner in a Dive Bomber on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Saratoga. Most of his service was in the South Pacific and he flew more than 36 missions. After his honorable discharge in October 1945, he returned home to enter into a business his father had started in 1932. With his father and two brothers, they formed Webb’s Auto Supply and ran it until 1971 when they sold the business after his father and one brother died. Bob then went to work for the Des Moines Independent School District as Operation Engineer Chief and retired after 14 years of service in 1985.
Bob enjoyed helping people and was considered a “Jack of all trades.” He loved his family and working around the house.
Bob is loved and deeply missed by his wife of 71 years, Amelia; daughters, Nancy (Alan) Delpierre and Peggi (Gary) Carlstedt; grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Autumn (Rob) Green, Kristen (Todd) Johnson of Lee Summit, MO, and Ryan (Kelsey Appleyard) Carlstedt; as well as his great-grandchildren, Trinity and Tristin Green, Quinn and Harris Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Heart Association in loving memory of Robert.

Dear Aunt Amelia, Peggy, Nancy, and families. I was so sad to hear this news of Uncle Bob's passing. I will hold onto the fond memories of our family and childhood times when stopping at the "garage" to visit him and my grandpa, when he would give us kids bottles of soda pop from the machine! My prayers are with all of you.

Amelia and family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I always appreciated you and Bob at Central Assembly. I enjoyed Bob telling me some of his war stories. He sure helped the church a lot with handyman projects and I remember him helping me lay tile in my home. God bless you and the family.

Amelia and Family:
Sending you my most sincere sympathy on your loss of Bobby.
My mind was flooded with great memories as I read the obituary this morning. Our family ties date all the way back to the l930's and 1940's when family members were friends and we used the services at Webb Auto.
May you find comfort in fond memories as you grieve your loss. I will keep you all in prayer.
Jerry
