Florence Gay

Florence W. Gay, 93, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at Wesley Acres. Services will be 2pm Monday, October 15th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1pm until service time.
Florence was born July 20, 1914 in Eagle, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska and received a teaching degree graduating with honors. She moved to Des Moines and taught in the Des Moines Public Schools for over 20 years. She was active in the Des Moines Women’s Club, First United Methodist Church and volunteered at Terrace Hill as a tour guide.
Florence is survived by her daughter Barbara (Tom) Kline; her son Jack (Jackie) Gay; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Gay.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Creative Center for Young Children at First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
