Zachary Leo Johnston, 20, of Morris, Illinois former of Des Moines passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
Zach was born on August 27, 1994 in Des Moines. Zach was a very unique individual. He collected bottle caps, pop can tabs and rocks that he would collect on walks and keep in his backpack. He loved to play and collect video games. He will be remembered for his smile, his eyes and how he touched the lives of so many in his own special way. Zach worked at the Super Pantry in Morris, Illinois.
Zach is survived by his mother and father, Christina and Todd Fitzgerald of Illinois; his father, Jason (Angie) Cole of Clearfield, Iowa; brothers, Taylor, Tiernan and Cole Fitzgerald, Dalton Kinder and Devin Cole; sisters Cadenz and Gabriella Fitzgerald, Kenzie, Kailey and Jade Cole; grandparents, Dave and Nancy Fitzgerald; great-grandma, Clara Fitzgerald; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandma and grandpa, Ginny and Dave Johnston.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Zach will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery with his grandparents. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

It's hard to put into words the pain that we feel for you all. Just know that Zach is with you and will help you during the difficult days ahead. One day at a time!

Kristi and family.....I just wanted you to know we are thinking and praying for your family during this time...I know Zach is at peace and in the comforts of God, but that leaves you all here to miss him. Keep all those good memories close to your heart and he will always be there. We will all see him one day when it is our time. Take are of each other always....
