Maxine M. Smith

Maxine Mildred (Lundgren) Smith was born November 5, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ernest W. and Clara I. (Remore) Lundgren. She has been a resident of Des Moines her entire life. She was a graduate of North High School and worked for Firestone in the accounting department for 27 years until her retirement in 1990. She married Dale E. Smith and they raised five sons together. She was a member of Community of Christ Church, Eastgate Eastern Star, and American Business Women’s Association.

Maxine passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at her home at Valley View Village at the age of 87. She joins her husband, Dale, three sons, and three grandsons, who precede her in death. She is survived by her sons, Darrell John Smith (Jacquie) of Ankeny and Edwin Duane Smith (Debbie) of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
