William Carvalho
July 07, 2015
William Mathew Carvalho, 44, passed away Tuesday July 7th, 2015. He was born June 8th, 1971 in El Paso, Texas. Will worked in restaurants all his life. He managed the restaurant Proof and previously worked at Americana, Django, Raccoon River Brewing Co, Houston’s, and Jaxon’s. He lived and breathed hospitality. Will’s passion and excitement for his craft was undeniable. He was a natural leader, teacher, and mentor. His humor and laugh was infectious. Though humble to a fault, he touched many lives in a truly amazing way.
William is survived by his wife, Jessica Carvalho; mother, Gracie Carvalho, sisters, Lisa Boeke and Miranda Carvalho; and nieces, Brittney Campbell and Ashley Boeke.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00pm., with funeral service at 1:00pm., Sunday, July 12 2015 At Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

I only knew Will through his restaurant work, but always admired his open, helpful manner and positive spirit.

I learned more from Will when he was my manager at the Savery than from all of the other managers put together before or since. Class act guy! Good man, good friend. Thoughts and prayers to Jessica and family.

Jessica,
I'm not sure if we met, but our husbands knew each other. My husband was Warren Morrow. He was a co-owner of Dos Rios and when it was newly open, I think in 2008 or around that year, he very much wanted to hire William as the manager. When that didn't go through, Warren introduced him to some people from Orchestrate Management and was excited for William when he began working in some of their establishments. He would often pop in and visit with William and admired his dedication and work ethic. Warren died unexpectedly in 2012. As a young widow, hearing of your loss took me back to those first days of shock and pain. I know you don't know me, but if you ever want to talk, please reach out to me. I have been on the path you are on and it can be extremely lonely. I would have loved for a younger widow to have been there for me when I first set on it. I can be reached on my cell phone at 515-991-2983, or if you prefer, by email at cfernandez.morrow@gmail.com, or you can find me on Facebook if you search for Christina Fernandez-Morrow.
I hope you have a strong circle of love around you and that you are able to let them help you.
Be kind and patient with yourself.
Sincerely,
Christina
