Edith Hayes, 86, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Fountain West Health Care Center. She was born February 5, 1929.
Edith was passionate about music and enjoyed listening to Dixieland. She performed in an all-girl band as a drummer all across the Midwest. Edith loved all animals especially Poodles.
She is survived by her step-daughters, Shirley (Harold) Dwinell, Jean Hayes, Judi Lahart, and Lorraine (Steve) Hansen; grandson, Colton Nading.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, “Slim” Hayes; son, Stephen; parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 1st at the funeral home with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family to be used for a charity that is held close to Edith’s heart.
