Thomas Anthony Hake
June 21, 2015
Thomas Anthony Hake was born November 7, 1946 in La Crosse, WI. He died of a brain tumor on June 21, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
As a young adult, Tom was a part of a musical group called the Exchequers. They became very popular, and he dropped out of college to pursue a musical career. This was cut short when he was drafted into the Army. He did a one year tour in Vietnam. When he returned, he attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, where he obtained his first-class radio license.
On June 14, 1969, he married Evelyn. He was in radio for over 20 years, and then switched careers to work for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville and then in Des Moines. Tom retired in March of 2013 with 25 years of service.
He was very proud of his four children (Mike, Marty, Melissa and Marcy), and his eight grandchildren (Gage, Ian, Greta, Bella, Addi, Bailey, Spencer and Stella). Tom loved the Green Bay Packers, hunting and fishing with his sons, Christmas Eve shopping with his daughters, reading to his grandchildren, and family get-togethers.
Thank you to the HCI Hospice Care Services for their care and support. Monetary thank yous may be sent to them in Tom’s memory. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

We will all be thinking of the family during this difficult time. A very sad loss of a great personality and provider. Evelyn will be well cared for her extended family and friends, including her friends and family at Josephs.
