Barbara Jean Barker, 88, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Barbara was born September 25, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa to Timothy and Irene Anderson. She graduated from East High School in 1944 and continued to be a Scarlet Booster for East High Athletic Department. Barbara was secretary for Governor Loveless and worked for Iowa Pack for 35 years before working at Firestone in Des Moines. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She liked attending church and was very supportive of her family and friends. She loved children and was kind to animals.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy and Edward. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion; brothers, Clifford, James, Wilbur and Gilbert; and her sisters, Goldie and Pat.

A memorial service will be held at Heritage Assembly of God Church, 5051 NE 5th St, Des Moines, at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
