Robert "Big Bob" Lee Briese
June 19, 2015
Robert “Big Bob” Lee Briese, 63, passed away peacefully Friday, June 19, 2015 with his family by his side.
Bob was born December 29, 1951 in Creston, Iowa to Robert D. and Beverly Briese. He grew up in Newton with his parents and two sisters, Sharon and Lisa. He played Little League and always had a love for baseball, which he shared with his grandchildren. He spent most of his career employed by Maytag. He was united in marriage to Merrianne Slycord and they raised six children together.
Bob instilled his love of music to all of his children and was a self-taught harmonica player. He could play just about anything by ear. He was proud of his service in the Navy and his Blackfoot Indian heritage. Bob loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved animals, especially his dog, Jada.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Merrianne; children, Michael Harrelson, Desiree (Brian) Maher, Shera Morgan, Courtney (JB) Conlin, Brynna (Colin) Dooley, and Kaelie Briese; father, Robert D. Briese; sisters, Sharon (Joe) Wagenknecht and Lisa Briese; and grandchildren, Keaton, Gavin, Paxton, Aidan, Connor, Brant, and Thomas. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly and his first wife, Denise.
His strength and love of family will forever be ingrained in his children and grandchildren.
As Bob wished, cremation rites have been accorded and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I haven't seen Bob since working with him, but have thought of him many times. I really enjoyed talking to him and his love of his family was always evident in our many conversations. He had a heart as big as he was. Saddened to hear of his passing, prayers for his family

I shared some real good times with Bob, back in 80 82 I was 17 years old young and dumb, He had to be 25 or so, had some beers with him and met his wife and kids, Bob was the big man, he was huge, and a heart just as big, came to my USAF/graduation party, quick drop by, I will never forget him for that, although we never saw each other since, he will always be THE BIG MAN, and will tell my three kids about him, God Bless Bob and his family
