Doug Eshelman
June 17, 2015
Doug Eshelman, 53, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from a brain aneurysm. He was born November 16, 1961 to John and Audrey Eshelman in Des Moines.
Doug graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School and attended the Bondurant Federated Church. He worked his entire life on the family farm and took over the entire operation in 1995 when his dad passed away unexpectedly. Doug loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Doug knew no stranger and loved to talk, tell stories and tease those he loved. His smile and laugh were infectious and will be remembered by all and deeply missed.
In 2010, Doug began a new journey that has been an inspiration to us all. His positive attitude and determination after his hunting accident was amazing. He overcame so many obstacles but never gave up on life and doing what he loved, working on the farm. We are comforted knowing he entered Heaven healed and free to run again.
Doug is survived by his children, Melissa Eshelman, Molly (Jesse) Depping, and Jed (fiancée, Jenny Walker) Eshelman; grandson, Brandon Depping; mother, Audrey Eshelman; fiancée, Jean Marie Kubrak; sisters, Annette (Gary) Justice and Alicia (Jeff) Adkins; nephews, Garrett (Jamie) Justice, John Adkins, and Jordan Adkins; nieces, Kenzie Adkins and Kaylee Adkins; great-niece, Nola Justice; uncles, Kevin (Margaret) Eshelman and Ron (Sharon) Friedrickson; aunt, Marilyn Paine; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Eshelman, and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Bondurant Federated Church with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. The family welcomes everyone back to the church for a luncheon after the burial. Family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bondurant Federated Church or Craig Hospital, 3425 S. Clarkson St., Englewood, CO 80113 where he received care for his spinal injury.

My deepest sympathy to Doug's family. Doug was the quarterback of my first Bondurant-Farrar football team in1979. I remember him as a hard working, fun loving free spirit who always did his best for his team. Although I had not seen him in many years I still remember him. RIP Doug.

God's speed Doug. What a gift to have known you and called you a friend. I so enjoyed our visit and the tour you gave me of the farm and your beautiful home last summer when I was visiting.
To the Eshelman family ~ you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I'll bet John, Doug and dad are enjoying a few laughs, cold ones and reminiscing about the great farming stories they shared. Love to you all.
