June Smith

June Diane Smith, 69, was born April 4, 1946 in Des Moines, the daughter of Glen and Mary (Cronin) Cosner. She passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.

Even though June graduated from Lincoln High School, she was a longtime, faithful eastsider at heart. There is nothing she cherished more in life than spending time with her children and grandchildren. June loved attending their activities and supporting them. She held a special place in her heart for the Iowa State Fair, and looked forward to attending each year.

June is survived by her children, April (Jim) May, December (Mike) Scott and Brian (Shelley Hess) Smith; grandchildren, Paul Fausett, Jr., Amber May, Chloe May, Michael Scott III, Matthew Scott, Larry Scott, Nicholas Scott, Katelynn Scott and Paul Smith; brother, Eugene (Dianna) Cosner; sisters-in-law, Donna Cosner and Anne Smith of Iowa and Donna Cosner of Georgia; special cousins, Dick and Marcia Smith; her “niece” Robin (Brad) Smith; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Smith; siblings, Roy Cosner, Earl Cosner and Barbara Thompson; mother-in-law, Lucille Slater; brothers-in-law, Howard Smith and Jim Smith and sister-in-law, Charlene Gibbons.

The family will greet friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Avon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
