Hazel Margaret Mullahey, 80, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 in the comfort of her own home with family by her side.
Hazel was born October 15, 1934 in Whittemore, Iowa to Walter and Margaret Zinnel. She had a strong Catholic faith and her family was her life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and entertaining and cooking for family and friends. Hazel was a jokester with a great sense of humor and could be very ornery. She loved doing water aerobics and enjoyed gardening.
Hazel is survived by her children, Wayne (Vicky Bohall) Hyde, Susan (LeRoy) Schnathorst, Julie (Scott) Harper, Bill (Sue) Lambert, Pam (Bob) Konchalski, and Gerald Mullahey, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann; and brothers, Leo and Gene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; sons, Michael and Patrick Mullahey; brothers, Harold and Melvin; and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Friday, June 19, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, June 20, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or to the family.

u are all in my prayers have known sue and leroy for ages really didnt get to know ur mom the few times i met her she was really sweet ready to help any body she will be missed

I didn't get the chance to get to know as well as I wish I did and I'm sorry for that but I do remember how you were always so happy and ready to help anyone who needed it. You were an amazing person , and you will never be forgotten. I'm blessed to be able to say that I was one of your many great-grandchildren. I love you grandma , may you rest in peace ????
