Madalene Harrison

Madalene Harrison, 97, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Arbor Springs in
West Des Moines. She was born on July 9, 1917 to Rollo Gilbert and Gladice Merritt Batcheler.

Madalene grew up on the family farm and graduated from Central City High School. She was a talented musician and was an avid golfer and world traveler with her husband. Later, Madalene became an accomplished oil painter.

She is survived by her loving children, Jean (Eugene) Ogrod and Harvey (Ellen Taylor) Harrison; grandchildren, Sean (Lauran) Harrison and Tania (David) Schramm; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Ruth, Grace, Joe, and Ben; brother, Robert Batcheler; and dear friend, Paula Blesi.

Madalene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herschell “Shorty” Harrison; and sister, Shirley Beebe.

Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, Monticello, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date in Cedar Rapids.
