Curtis Edmund Carrington was born October 11, 1927 in Earlham, Iowa to George and Fern Elizabeth Carrington. He passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the age of 87.
Curtis lived in the Des Moines area his entire life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for Kraft/Nabisco for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. Curtis was a member of First Federated Church.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Winona; son, Donald; two grandchildren, Ryan (Cassandra Akers) Carrington and Rochelle Carrington; nine great-grandchildren, Annelise Akers, Landon Carlson, Kayla Carrington, Elizabeth Carrington, Larissa Carrington, Alex Ginn, Pierce Ginn, David Ginn and Nicole; two siblings, Norma (Guy) Lary and Keith (Peggy Small) Carrington; goddaughters, Cheryl Lang and Bonnie Foster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both Winona and Curtis’ sides, including Alan (Jeane) Koppenhaver and their family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; brothers, Fred Carrington, Warren Carrington, Kenneth Carrington and his sister, Clarice Ohs.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial with military honors will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Curtis’s name.

I love you I miss you so much I was a baby at the time so I did not see you a lot only 1year then you died when I was 2 it is so sad I wish that you could have stayed with us longer

Love you Uncle Curt...will cherish the memories of times at your home with my Mom n Dad( Curt's sister n brother-in-law n Nonie Sister n brother-in-law) and the holidays spent together n lives we shared together n with all of Koppenhaver kids. .nephews n nieces...Alan, Cliff , Renee, Karen ,Jeff and Kristi...NO ONE can replace you Uncle Curt...but we can hold u in our hearts n follow your example in your love for your Savior Jesus n ur wife, Nonie n son Don n family...love u Aunt Nonie our 2nd Mom n Cousin Don..like our brother...we are praying for u

So sorry for your loss, Curt was such a nice man. He will be greatly missed. He's joining Darrell and Harold in a pain free and better place.

We were saddened by Curt's passing but we know he is in a pain free world and home with his Lord. We will miss him much as we know you all will. We have lots of great memories that we will hold close to our hearts until we see him again. Curt we love you so much and your family, also.

To my other family the Carringtons Curtis was kinda like a second Dad to me and Winona you're like another mom you have always been a part of our family and I will miss Curtis like any other member of my family Don I don't get to see you much but you've been like a big brother to me many times I remember every time we went for a ride in one of your new cars or when you beat me on a pool table I love all of you
